MYSA announced this month the new concussion policy for Missouri Youth Soccer coaches and referees.

Effective immediately, concussion education training will begin for all coaches and referees participating in state events. The program follows in the footsteps of USSoccer and the Center for Disease and Control concussion campaign, “Heads Up: Concussions in Youth Sports.”

The campaign aims to get the word out on the dangers of concussions, offering vital information not only for coaches and referees, but for parents and players as well.

The MYSA concussion education program will consist of an online concussion certification quiz through the CDC or National Federation of High Schools (NFHS).

This quiz is a free 25-30 minute course online that covers concussion awareness, recognition, treatment, and prevention.

Additional concussion education resources and further information can be found on the MYSA website.
