U.S. U17 WNT head coach B.J. Snow announced yesterday the roster for the 2013 CONCACAF Women’s U17 Championship held in Montego Bay, Jamaica Oct. 30-Nov. 9.

The 20-player roster includes all but a second goalkeeper, who will be named before the tournament. Several goalkeepers in the U17 pool are recouping from injuries and selection will be based on the fittest of the bunch.

The roster consists of four players from California, two from Colorado, New Jersey and Washington, and one player each from Kansas and Idaho. Star forward Mallory Pugh leads the U.S. in scoring with seven total goals and fellow forward Madison Haley has been a standout as well this year. The U.S. midfield is also a force to be reckoned with, and when trio Marley Canales, Anika Rodriguez and Taylor Racioppi step on the pitch, their skills are a dangerous combination for the opposition.

“We have worked very hard since January to navigate through the selection process and identify a group of individuals to represent our country for World Cup qualifying,” Snow told USSoccer. “At the U-17 level, our job is to identify players across the nation who have the qualities to help us achieve our short term goals of qualifying for the World Cup and who also have the potential to move through our National Team system, with the ultimate goal of playing for our first team one day. We feel that this group of players is a great representation of the future of U.S. Soccer.”

The players will converge in Lakewood, FL from Oct. 13-19 for training before the tournament. The U.S. has played in seven international matches this year with a 4-1-2 record and 21 goals total.
