It will a test of endurance for the U.S. women, as 15 players will be returning from the NWSL season, including Abby Wambach and Alex Morgan, who will face each other in the NWSL Championship just three days prior. It’s still up in the air if Morgan will even play, due to an injury she sustained Aug. 7.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the NWSL matches this summer and I know all the players will be sharp for the game against Mexico,” Sermanni told USSoccer. “We have several key players out with injuries, but I’m pleased we were able to call in a few new players to give them a brief look at this event.”

It’s not unusual for Sermanni to add some fresh faces to the lineup. UNC standout Crystal Dunn has already garnered six caps in her budding National team career and University of Virginia star Morgan Brian has one cap under her belt.

Among other new call-ups is 2013 NWSL Rookie of the Year Erika Tymrak, who had an exceptional season playing midfield for FC Kansas City where she tallied six goals and four assists. Her teammate, defender Leigh Ann Robinson has been added to the roster as well.

Of course, you’ve got the favorites: Sydney Leroux, Lauren Holiday and Carli Lloyd. Lloyd will be playing for WNY Flash in the NWSL championship alongside Wambach. Mexico has 12 players returning from NWSL duty as well, including forward Monica Ocampo, who also stood out during the season with Sky Blue FC.
