The Oklahoma soccer community has a lot to be proud of, as they cheer on their very own, Bright Dike, who was called to play on the Nigerian National Team this Wednesday in a friendly against Venezuela.
The Portland Timbers forward is currently training in Florida with The Super Eagles in preparation for the game in Miami, an exciting opportunity as this is his first National Team call up at any level.
Dike, 25, was born an Oklahoman with parents from Nigeria. His opportunity to play at club level first came when Portland’s head coach, Gavin Wilkinson, replaced Timbers first choice forward, Scot Kris Boyd with Dike after he had coached him in the old USL Club prior to its MLS elevation in 2011.
It was history after that, with more to look forward to in the future as Dike continues to impress with non-stop stunning performances, finishing 2nd as one of the Timbers leading scorer’s with 5 goals in 12 games over the final half of the 2012 campaign.
