USWNT Crush South Korea

For the second time in four days, the U.S. Women’s National team dominated South Korea, following Thursday’s 3-1 victory in New Orleans by defeating the same opponent 6-0 in Cary, North Carolina on Sunday afternoon.

Once Sam Mewis opened the scoring in the third minute the game became the proverbial Sunday stroll for the home team, as the U.S. sprinted out to a 4-0 first-half lead.

Mewis added the second goal in the 20th minute, Christen Press finished from an Alex Morgan assist in the 35th and Julie Ertz continued her spectacular goalscoring form when she made it four for the Yanks in first-half stoppage time.

Lynn Williams and Allie Long piled on second-half scores to set the final scoreline at 6-0 in a match that was as easy as the score implied.

The USWNT ups the ante in its final two games of 2017 when it faces Canada home and away. Matches against Canada often belie the “friendly neighbors to the north’ stereotypes and this two-game set figures to end the year on a much more competitive note for Jill Ellis and her side.
