U.S. Soccer announced today that the U.S. WNT will take on Mexico on September 18 at Sahlen’s Stadium in Rochester, NY. They will play a first match against them on Sept. 13 at a venue that is yet to be determined.
The two-game series will usher in the 2014 CONCACAF Women’s Championship that will be held throughout the U.S. in Kansas City, Chicago, Washington D.C. and Philadelphia. The top three finishers will earn berths to the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada.
This will the 29th and 30th meeting between the North American neighbors. The U.S. is 16-1-1 against the Mexicans, the single loss occurring in the semifinal of the 2010 CONCACAF Women’s Championship in Cancun. This fall Mexico will be vying for a berth to the World Cup, having last participated in 2011.
