Today U.S. WNT head coach Tom Sermanni revealed the 24 player training camp roster as the U.S. women begin preparations for two upcoming matches against China PR on April 6 in Commerce City, CO and April 10 in San Diego, CA.
This will be the first call up following a less than favorable Algarve Cup Tournament in Portugal, where the U.S. experienced their first two losses in 43 games. Twenty-two of the players that took part in the Algarve Cup are on the roster for China, with midfielder Lauren Holiday and Wake Forest forward Katie Stengel added to the mix.
Amongst the veterans, Abby Wambach, Christen Press and Sydney Leroux are tied for most goals scored so far this year with four goals each. Forward Alex Morgan will not be present as she continues to recover from an ankle injury and Hope Solo will be in the net for both matches to hit her 150th cap.
Out of the young guns, UVA midfielder Morgan Brian made the roster with eight caps along with UCLA midfielder Samantha Mewis, who notched two caps at the Algarve Cup. Defender Crystal Dunn will be out of both matches as she recovers from an ankle injury.
